COWS FOR SALE

A few home milk cows will be offered for sale between now and the end of Summer 2013.  Our herd is known for it's BLV (leukemia) FREE status.  Our cows are tested for BLV, TB, Brucellosis, Johnes and BVD prior to entrance into our herd.  The Texas Animal Commission performs annual Brucellosis testing and here on the farm we perform annual TB testing in conjunction with our local vet.

We do not often sell cows from our grass fed milking herd, as finding a dairy cow disease free is like finding a needle in a haystack.  However, once every 3 years or so, we buy a new herd sire and it is important to change out some of the cows in the herd for the gene pool.  Due to this we are offering a few of our cows, good HOME MILK COW options, that can be hand or machine milked, that are gentle and comfortable around people.  Our girls are easy to handle, there are no kickers or bad tempered cows in this offering.  Life is too short to have an onery dairy cow, we know b/c we have "been there, done that".  These are good quality cows that should please you as long as you manage and tend to their needs properly.  They have all been on a 100% grass diet, no grain, they produce well, breed back and calve each year.  They should all be bred.  You are welcome to have them vet checked if you like.

All of our cows offered for sale are $2500 each with the exception of Kim, a registered Jersey, she is priced at $3000.  Bull calves are $200; Heifer calves are $350-550.  The only calves that are available at this time are those of the cows listed for sale.  All prices are firm.

If you need delivery, use google maps and the price is $3.00 per loaded mile.

HORSE FOR SALE

AMISH TRAINED DRIVING PONY - $550 firm

"Merry Legs" is a 15 yr old black miniture mare, about 36" tall.  She is a super driving mare and works well single or double.  Our girls ride her but she has not been "trained" to ride, they just piddle around on her.

Maple is a 3 yr old, coming 4 yr old, black/bay miniture mare, about 38-40" tall.  Very well trained to ride and drive, single or double; she has had lots of miles.   She lays down on command but is a pill bug with baby habits.  The children ride her quite a bit but she needs to be worked with Mom or Dad until she gets out of her baby stage b/c she will push the children around to see if she is the lead mare or they are. $950 or best offer.

"Peanut" is a chestnut and white paint pony mare, about 40-42" tall.  I think she is about 8 yrs old.  She is trained to drive.  Our girls ride her but she does not know much about riding.  We brought her back from OH last October, she belonged to some Amish friends of ours that used her for their main cart pony back and forth between the farms on the road.  $1100 for this little driving machine.
