WHAT IS A RAW MILK GROUP?

A raw milk group is a group of families that have individually purchased a $25 membership to Sand Creek Farm. They have bound together to form groups to take turns picking up items from the farm. Each area has it's own yahoo group with driving schedules, contact data base and an order data base. We are moderators for the groups but do not read all of the correspondence between group members as the yahoo groups are meant to be a place for the group members to correspond with one another and not the farm.

Each group chooses to pick up weekly, monthly or every other month. They have set weekly or monthly orders. Each family pays their monthly amount by the 1st of each month prior to product leaving the farm. If they want to order additional items, they send an e-mail to alysha@texasbb.com and place an order; when a return e-mail indicates that product is available, each member changes their own orders on their yahoo group.

When it is your families turn to drive: Print 3 copies of the yahoo database, one for the farm, one for yourself, and one for the drop site. The driver is required to arrive at the farm with coolers AND enough ice to completely cover the milk. The yahoo group database is compared to the farm production schedule posted on the side of the refrigerator, items are weighed and weights are written in on the farm and yahoo lists as needed, either by farm personnel or by the driver. Extras are added and written next to the group members name, after permission is obtained. It all runs rather smoothly considering the number of people working together as a coordinated effort.
