SAND CREEK FARM & DAIRY

Our Jersey and Jersey cross cows are Grass Fed / Grain free; BLV (bovine leukemia virus) Free; BVD (bovine viral diarrhea) Free; TB Free; and Brucellosis Free. Our cows are tested pre-purchase and retested annually as needed.

Our calves suckle their own mother's for their rich colostrum for a week to a month or more, then they are transferred to a nurse cow of a simular lactation cycle so the fat content in the milk is at the stage that is right for the calf.

Our cows are humanely handled and well treated. They consume the best forage and grass fed inputs that the farm can grow and/or provide.

Every quarter of every milk cow is tested every week for any signs of mastitis.

Our pastures are managed for soil microbiology, soil nutrients, soil pH, soil cation exchanges and much more. The soil microbes are added as needed, they are also fed as needed. The pH is balanced as are the vitamins and mineral with organic inputs to the pastures. The grasses are tested for available nutrients to the animals. Free choice vitamin / mineral buffets are available on the farm for the animals to pick and choose what they need in the quantities that they need. It is amazing to watch them sniff each box and only consume what their diet is lacking that day. It is also amazing to evaluate the forage and soil tests against these animals natural instincts and see that they are consuming exactly what is lacking in the forage at that time in the season.

WHY DO WE DO ALL OF THIS?

Because it is the right thing to do. Because in order to have the best quality milk, to have the healthiest animals, to have the most nutrient dense foods available to our family and yours....the land, forages and animals must be monitored, evaluated, and then provided the missing links in order for them to give us the nutrients in the milk, meat, eggs and other food products that come from them, that our bodies need. It is just that simple...."easily said but not easily done". If it were easy, everyone would do it. It is not easy but then nothing worth doing is ever easy. This as a labor of love and a dedication to providing the best.

We offer raw milk, products from our creamery and multiple meat options to our customers. We offer a Farm Membership program and a Non-Member program for purchasing items from us.
