Our sugar bush this year is Cold Hollow Career Center in Vermont. Part of the reason for the low price of this fabulous Vermont dark maple syrup is that the program administrators liked that their syrup, raised and produced as part of this program for young adults, would then be sent to a small farm to go directly to the families interested in supporting small local farmers. They are showing their appreciation to you for your dedication to helping others like them.

Remember, Spring and Fall are the best times of the year to purchase eggs as supply is high with the lower temperatures and long daylight hours. For eggs in your home all year, this is the time to scramble them raw, fill the ice cube trays and pop the frozen cubes into sacks for storage (1 cube = 1 egg). In the hot summer months and the short colder winter days, supply will probably be short as this is the normal way a chicken has a rest and a time to reset her reproductive tract for the year.
